Welcome to monongalia county schools

Monongalia County Schools is located in the northern part of West Virginia.  It is a district with more than 11,000 students.  It has 10 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 3 high schools.  Our mission is to Graduate Every Child!

Monongalia County was formed in 1776.  It is thought that the name of the county, Monongalia, is a misspelling of the river that runs through it, the Monongahela.  Morgantown is the county seat.  It is the home to West Virginia University, the largest university in the state of West Virginia.    Find out more about Morgantown and Monongalia County by going to the WV Encyclopedia Site!
