Monongalia County Schools is located in the northern part of West Virginia. It is a district with more than 11,000 students. It has 10 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 3 high schools. Our mission is to Graduate Every Child!
Monongalia County was formed in 1776. It is thought that the name of the county, Monongalia, is a misspelling of the river that runs through it, the Monongahela. Morgantown is the county seat.
