Monongalia County Schools, located in Morgantown, West Virginia, serves 11,200+ students countywide. Under the leadership of Superintendent Eddie R. Campbell, Ed.D., our district comprises a dedicated team of approximately 1,200 staff members, including central administration, 10 elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, one junior/senior high school, one alternative education school, and one career technical education center.

Situated approximately one hour from Pittsburgh, PA, and three hours from Washington, DC, most of our schools are centered in the vibrant Morgantown area. This region is home to West Virginia University, an esteemed R1 Research Institution with a five-school Health Sciences Center and active participation in Big 12 Athletics, serving as Monongalia County's largest employer.

Within Monongalia County Schools, we embrace diversity, with 53 native languages and students from 60 countries represented. This rich cultural tapestry underscores our commitment to providing a high-quality public academic system. Our leaders prioritize empowering educational excellence, equipping both educators and students with the necessary tools and resources for growth inside and outside the classroom.

We place great importance on each child's intellectual, physical, and social-emotional health, implementing measures to support their holistic development.

Monongalia County Schools consistently rank among the top in West Virginia across all grades and subjects. In 2024, we once again celebrated National Merit Scholarship winners and a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Our students consistently surpass state and national averages on the SAT, while our overall graduation rate stands at an impressive 95%. Advanced Placement scores in 2024 resulted in an 82% passing rate on all exams compared to 67% globally. Monongalia County has been honored as the Best WV School District by Niche Rankings and Stacker Publishing for five consecutive years (2021-2025).
