Superintendent's Advisory Council

The SAC was established in 2021 to provide a direct line of communication between individual school stakeholders and the Superintendent.

PURPOSE of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council: It is the purpose of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council to provide our school constituency the opportunity to provide input to the County’s decision-making process, toward the achievement of county-wide goals regarding the value and celebration of learning as well as working to create responsible and productive youth. The primary focus for the 21-22 school year will benefit our students county-wide:

  1.  Enhance communication between the Superintendent and school patrons.
  2. Serve as a sounding board for new ideas.
  3. Help the Superintendent and school board anticipate and/or identify community concerns and potential solutions to those ideas.
  4. Assist with planning issues surrounding the implementation of change.

Authority: The Superintendent’s Advisory Council (SAC) serves as an advisory group to the Superintendent and not a decision-making body for the County.

Meetings: The SAC will hold a minimum of one meeting every month (August through May, with the possible exception of December) during the school year.  More frequent meetings may be scheduled as the need arises.

We have invited parents/guardians who currently have a student enrolled in Monongalia County Schools to serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council (SAC) as we work to build a strong community-parent-school partnership.

MEMBERSHIP: The SAC members may include:

  • MCS staff members and administrators
  • Parents/guardians of current students from MCS schools & community members
  • School student representative(s)
  • Additional appointments from the Superintendent (community experts/members)

Members will represent the many cultures, languages, ethnicities and neighborhoods of the county’s student body. The Superintendent may appoint  community experts to serve.

SAC parent/guardian members will:

  • Actively participate in monthly meetings with the Superintendent Advisory Council.
  • Share input on upcoming policy decisions and best practices.
  • Discuss parent perspectives on topic’s impacting their child’s school and the school system.
  • Build relationships with parents from across the school system.
  • Provide feedback and be responsible for sharing, promoting and communicating information to parents in our county generated through the SAC to parents in our school system.
  • Maintain professional and positive intent while addressing and brainstorming solutions.
  • Stay within the topic framework for the meeting.

SAC Members may be contacted by the community to provide input and comments regarding their respective schools. Please see the contact information listed below.

Council meetings are held once per month for members, unless otherwise noted.
