Family Advisory Council to the Superintendent

The Superintendent's Advisory Council (changed to the Family Advisory Council to the Superintendent or FACS on January 11, 2023), was established in 2021 to provide a direct line of communication between individual school stakeholders and the Superintendent.

PURPOSE of the Family Advisory Council: It is the purpose of the Family Advisory Council to the Superintendent (FACS) to provide our school parent constituency the opportunity to provide input to the County’s decision-making process, toward the achievement of county-wide goals regarding the value and celebration of learning as well as working to create responsible and productive youth.

  1.  Enhance communication between the Superintendent and school patrons.
  2. Serve as a sounding board for new ideas.
  3. Help the Superintendent and school board anticipate and/or identify community concerns and potential solutions to those ideas.
  4. Assist with planning issues surrounding the implementation of change.

Authority: The Family Advisory Council to the Superintendent serves as an advisory group to the Superintendent and not a decision-making body for the County.

Meetings: The FACS will hold a meetings once a month (August through April, with the possible exception of December) during the school year.  More frequent meetings may be scheduled as the need arises.

The superintendent has invited parents/guardians who currently have a student enrolled in Monongalia County Schools to serve as a member of the  Advisory Council  to work to build a strong community-parent-school partnership.
