About the Superintendent

Eddie R. Campbell, Jr., Ed.D. assumed his duties as Monongalia County's Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2018 after completion of the search process facilitated by the firm Orion-Delta. Dr. Campbell was recommended to the Board of Education for consideration by an ad hoc citizens search committee comprised of approximately 20 Monongalia County residents. 

Dr. Campbell previously served seven years as superintendent of Tucker County Schools. He also served as principal of the Davis-Ramoth Memorial School in Kotzebue, Alaska (2010-2011) and as executive director of the Livingston American School in Shanghai, China (2004-2010).

Earlier in his career in education administration, Dr. Campbell was employed as assistant principal and principal of three schools in Virginia.

As a 1988 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor of arts degree in history, Dr. Campbell also holds a master of education degree with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction from George Mason University and doctor of education degree in educational leadership from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education.

Dr. Campbell and his wife, Zhilan Zhang, are the parents of a son and reside in Monongalia County.
