Congratulations to all the champions!
The 73rd Annual North Central WV Ham, Bacon and Egg Show took place on April 23rd at the Clay-Battelle Middle /High School Auditorium. Approximately 30 students from Clay-Battelle and University High Schools competed for Best Ham, Best Bacon, and Best Eggs. The show marks the final day of a year-long project for most of the students.
Jacob Shriver won Grand Champion Ham, purchased by Charles Clemens West Virginia State Senate, representing District 2. Jaydon Palmer won Grand Champion Bacon, purchased by Ron Lytle Construction. Karson Moore won Grand Champion Eggs, purchased by the Howard Clark foundation.
Amber Brewer won Reserve Champion Ham, and Heaven Tennant won Reserve Champion Bacon, purchased by 6-Gun, Inc. Travis Anderson, Jr. won Reserve Champion Eggs, purchased by Joe R. Pyles Auction service.
Students use their earnings for continuing education and for purchasing and expanding their supervised agricultural programs.
To help cover costs of the event, Mr. Warren Trout donated two handmade knives and two pens to the sale in memory of his two late sons, both FFA members in the program.
