WELCOME BACK to the 2018 - 2019 school year at Cheat Lake Elementary School!
It seems like only yesterday, that the students were leaving to begin their summer break, and to relax after a long school year. Now, here we are, ready to begin a new year.
As always, I must make the obligatory request of you, to complete the important paper work included in your child’s take-home folder. Please read these forms carefully, to be certain that they apply to you. Once completed, please return them to your child’s teacher. Much additional information is available on our website, and I encourage you to investigate the newly designed site. In the interest of saving trees, we’ve chosen to copy only those forms which require a signature, or forms we’re required to send to you.
With a school so large, it seems we’re always introducing new employees, and this year is no exception. Look for more information in our first PTO Newsletter.
Our official school day has been extended a bit. Student arrival time will be 8:30 A.M., with class beginning at 8:55 A.M. Dismissal will occur for all students at 3:40 P.M. This extra time will come in handy, should inclement weather cause school delays or cancellations. Our Traffic Guards will be present to assist with traffic control, at arrival and dismissal, and we encourage you to adhere to their directions, to maintain the safety of our students and families.
The popularity of our Grandparents’ Breakfast, has caused us to schedule two breakfasts for this year. The fall Grandparents’ Breakfast will be held on Friday, October 5, for families with a last name beginning with A – M. The spring Grandparents’ Breakfast will be held on Friday, April 5, for families with a last name beginning with N – Z. We will host our annual Book Fair during each breakfast.
We are very excited to begin a new school year, and we look forward to watching your children become leaders, one child at a time!
