MHS Spring Sports Meeting - Feb. 9th (Make-up Meeting)

The Morgantown High School Athletic Department is holding mandatory meetings for Spring Sports.  Anyone wishing to tryout for a spring sport must attend one of these meetings.  Spring sports include:  Boys/Girls Track, Boys/Girls Lacrosse, Boys/Girls Tennis, Softball, and Baseball.

MAKE-UP MEETING:   Tuesday, Feb. 9th at 2:50 in the cafeteria.

Failure to attend one of these meetings will result in no participation.  All physicals must be dated after June 1st to be valid for the 2009 - 2010 school year.  Click here for more information.

MHS ACT/SAT Prep Class - Starts Feb. 16th

MHS will being having their winter ACT/SAT Prep class from February 16 - March 24.  There will also be a spring session from April 13 - May 19. The cost of the class is $150 and the class meets each Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-5 p.m.  Click here for more information.

NASA IV & V ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (NEAP) - Due Feb. 26th

The NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Facility is offering the NASA IV7V Engineering Apprenticeship Program (NEAP) internship this summer. This internship program encourages students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  The students selected for this program will work one-on-one with a mentor for eight weeks this summer.  Selected interns will be placed at the NASA IV7V Facility in Fairmont.  Candidates must be committed to attending the entire eight-seek apprenticeship.  Interns will be paid a stipend of $2400 for 329 hours of employment.  Applications may be picked up in the guidance office and must be received at the NASA Facility by 4:00 pm on Friday, February 26, 2010.

Financial Assistance for PSAT/SAT/ACT/AP

Financial assistance of $50 for taking PSAT/SAT/ACT/Advanced Placement tests or preparatory coursework is offered through the Jeri, Sam, Morgan, Joshua & Lara Stone Charitable TrustClick here for a list of guidelines and an application form.

2nd Semester Attendance Policy

At the beginning of the second semester, January 19th, the additional two days for absences will no longer be in effect. We will follow the original county attendance policy which is six absences in homeroom and IR and three per individual class for the semester.

Morgantown High Wins Silver for 3rd Time

The U.S. & World News Report has once again (3rd year in a row) named Morgantown High School as the only school in West Virginia to receive the Silver Medal for the “America’s Best High Schools” award.  One hundred schools in the country received the Gold Medal, 461 received the Silver Medal, and 1,189 received the Bronze Medal. Congratulations to MHS administrators, faculty, staff, and students on this prestigious award!
