Following consultation with county and state health officials concerning the H1N1 virus´ potential impact in Monongalia County, the Monongalia County Board of Education and district administrators have temporarily amended the county´s school attendance guidelines.
These amended guidelines are effective for the remainder of this semester only and apply to students attending Morgantown, University and Clay-Battelle High schools.
The amended guidelines will add two days to your child´s school´s exam exemption policy (Attendance Policy 9-04). Verification of all absences will follow existing policy requirements.
Monongalia County Schools has adopted these temporary amendments in recognition of its responsibility to address both the academic and health needs of its students. We´ve added these two days of permissible absences to encourage students to remain at home if they experience flu-like symptoms.
If your child is affected by this flu, please contact your school´s office to help us keep accurate records and provide valuable information for the Monongalia County Health Department. Thank you for your cooperation.
