Vision
SUNCREST MIDDLE SCHOOL VISION:
A people-building environment for students, staff, families and community
Vision
Suncrest Middle School strives to be a people-building environment for students, staff, families and community.
A People-Building Environment is especially appropriate at the middle school level as students struggle to make the transition from the dependence of childhood to the independence of adulthood. In a larger sense, we believe that a People-Building Environment nourishes all members of the school community: students, staff, families and the broader community.
A People-Building Environment is a place that:
* nourishes self definition and self-respect
*nurtures intrinsic motivation
*encourages the need to give to others values the worth and contributions of each individual member
*exhibits respect for others envisions an interactive and mutually supportive community of learners
*provides current opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the community
*prepares all members to continue to function in the future as contributors to the larger society.
A People-Building Environment improves the quality of life for each individual member of the school community and ultimately society as a whole. Suncrest Middle School believes that a People-Building
Environment will meet the present and future needs of our changing and shrinking global world.
Themes
In order to bring about this People-Building Environment Suncrest Middle School will pursue four themes:
* Through interaction Suncrest Middle School seeks to assure that all groups within the school community have the opportunity to communicate and exchange ideas and opinions.
*Through consciously striving to be an inviting place, Suncrest Middle School will be providing a People--Building Environment.
*Through promoting involvement of students, staff, families, and the broader community, Suncrest Middle School acknowledges that all parts of the school community are independent and that all must work
together and have a role in decision making if the school is to create a People- Building Environment.
