Greetings from the Cheat Lake Counseling Department
Welcome! My name is Ms. Kaitlin Fetty, and I am the current school counselor for PreK through 2nd grade. Since the age of 5, I have walked through the same doors your children walk through every day spending the first 8 years of my schooling at this building, which was grades K-8 when I was growing up. After graduating from University High School, I attended West Virginia University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling.
The school counseling department at Cheat Lake includes developmental guidance, individual counseling, and group counseling, along with other services. Developmental guidance lessons are given to all students in grades K-2 once or twice a month, and delivers a lesson about a particular topic, unless the teacher suggests a lesson specific to their classroom needs. Individual counseling for students is provided upon request from a student, teacher, or parent. Students may self- refer by filling out a referral form and parents may contact the counselor to discuss counseling options for their child or to make an appointment. In addition, small group counseling is offered on a variety of topics throughout the year.
MAMA FETTY AND ME
Mama Fetty has been working at Cheat Lake Elementary since I was in third grade. I strongly believe that when a student, a parent, a staff member, a substitute, a human walks in the door of this school, I want them to feel like a family. I have always felt that the Cheat Lake Community has always been strong and bonded. As a child, a student, and now a professional counselor in the same place I grew up, I know the importance of connectedness and support. Welcome to a school where we see you as family!
If you would like to get ahold of me to schedule an appointment, or to contact me by phone/email, please see below:
